I have always been very active, especially growing up. Though running was the one thing I was always good at especially when it came to gym class.
Several years ago, one of my sisters was diagnosed with hypothyroidism…She used running as a way to work off her frustration. Soon she was registering for 5ks and 10ks. I joined her in her training to help keep her motivated as well as a way for our bond to become stronger. When she registered to run her first half, coincidentally the Iron Girl, I registered for my first 5k and the rest was history.
I completed my first half in Spring 2014, the Iron Girl Clearwater, with a finish time of 2:37:52. Since then I have continued to run in many 5ks, 10ks and have seven halfs under my belt!
In 2015, I completed my first challenge race – Glass Slipper Challenge at the Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend, as well as my first mud run/obstacle course run.
In January 2018, I participated in my first full marathon at the 25th Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.
I am so thankful to finally have my “sport.” It has brought so many new friendships into my life and taught me a lot about myself as far as motivation, determination, even inspiration.
