Hello and good morning! If you’re a frequent visitor to my blog you may have noticed that I disappeared from the blogging world for some time. It was a much needed break between the holidays and then I rung in 2016 with a new job! It’s an exciting opportunity that is going to open doors in my career of the TV media world as I work alongside an industry legend in the Direct Response marketing realm. I couldn’t be any more happier and less stressed!
Along with my blogging hiatus came my break from running. I’ve only run 3-4 times since my half back in December, one of those runs being a 10K, the St. Pete Beach Classic. The end result of that run completely exceeded my expectations of how I anticipated the finish, more on that later in my race recap.
I have two more races that I am currently registered for that I signed up last year, Best Damn Race Safety Harbor 10K and the Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K, both taking place next month. I have decided not to register or run anymore races in 2016, at least for the time being.
Since November 2013 to December 2015, I have completed:
- 5 Half Marathons
- 1 15K
- 4 10Ks
- 8 5Ks
- 1 OCR
Needless to say I’ve logged up quite the miles and those are just my race miles not including all the miles accumulated while training. I think I’ve just hit a wall with running mentally and physically. My goal for 2016 is to get stronger, with the help of Camp Gladiator, and ease back into running.
It’s bittersweet to not being registering for Iron Girl this year or run the Disney Princess Half this year with two other very good running friends who both had to defer last year. However, I know I need this break and it isn’t forever. I just know that in my head and in my heart that I need to change things up in order to find the love for running I once had. Though I won’t stray to far away and complete ax it from my life in 2016, I’ve been thinking about using this time to give back and be on the “other side” of the course by volunteering at some of these races. And, of course I will still be there at the finish line cheering on my running friends.
I’m not sure what this means for my blog. Ill continue to post here and there but with while not running I’m sure there is only so much you all want to hear about my workouts, etc., but ill continue to try and join in on link ups when I can. 🙂
Have you ever taken a break from running? What did you do with your time?
