Upon completing Iron Girl I took a much needed week off to just rest and recoup. As I mentioned in one of my last posts regarding my summer running plans, I am partaking in the Rugged Maniac Mud Run next month. It’s a short 5k run with obstacles every x-distance. I know I can run but my strength is just okay, and don’t even get me started about, my lack there of, of upper body strength.
I am making my main focus these next few weeks leading up to the event to work on my strength and conditioning. Yes, I did some cross training while training all season long for my various races but to be honest it was probably the bare minimum. In a way I did get stronger and faster with its assistance but I know I am capable of doing more.
Monday: Strength Training session
Tuesday: Strength Training session in the morning
Then, a 2 mile run after work.
Wednesday: Rest Day
Thursday: 2 Mile Run followed up with some strength training
Friday: Rest Day – spent the morning traveling for work. 2.31 mile walk between Tampa International and O’Hare International airport.
Saturday: 3.26 mile walk around downtown Chicago.
Sunday: 5.86 mile walk around downtown Chicago, O’Hare international and Tampa International.
