Guys, I kinda did a thing yesterday…Gasparilla hasn’t even come and gone and I may have…actually did, well we’ll let the photo below give it away:
That’s right I just registered to run my first full marathon next January, the 25th Walt Disney World Marathon!
It’s an exciting opportunity and I get to participate with some really awesome and aw-inspiring people!
Now some of you, especially close friends and family, may not have even know I was considering doing a full and I wasn’t…until the last few weeks. When I toed the finish of my first ever half a couple years ago, I knew there was the potential of completing a full at some point. I was never opposed to the idea, at the same time though I was not jumping at the moment to go train for a 20 mile run.
So what ultimately made me come to the conclusion of registering for one? Well coincidentally my best running friend, who I actually got into running originally, Montana over at Pretty Lil’ Mudder was recently accepted via lottery to run the Chicago Marathon in October, her first full. At the same time, my CG friends and trainer were in the final stages of training for the Disney Full, which seeing their photos and hearing about their experience on race day made me want to do it….let’s just say I was heavily influenced to take the leap in the next distance.
I feel confident in my ability to tackle this next challenge. Training for Gasparilla had contributed to that confidence. Sure Gasparilla is over two days but it’s just about the same distance and knowing my body can handle a 22-miler weekend run, is a stepping stone for what’s to come!
So what made me choose Disney for my first full? Disney was always on the list of possibility. Disney knows how to put on a race, especially with next year being the 25th anniversary, the entire race day process is seamless. Not to mention the course takes you through all of the parks, so the course entertainment and support is sure to be a good time. Additionally I’ll have the support of my CG friends and trainer not only in training but there alongside me on race day too!

I have no set goals for this other than to just finish the race and do so with a smile on my face and enjoying the miles!
Have you ever completed a full? Have any tips/tricks to recommend for training?
