I haven’t been blogging as much these few months, I just haven’t had as much to write about. The summers are brutal in Florida so I wasn’t running heavily and training. Now that I am training again and taking on more fitness challenges I am hoping it will motivate me more to blog about my experiences and just get involved more socially with my fellow bloggers through link ups…and I am starting today by joining the Thinking Out Loud Thursday linkup.
So what has been on my mind lately you ask well…my best friend is getting married at the end of the month – eek!! It seemed only yesterday I was sitting next to her at the ballpark as the end of third ending came to an end and her then boyfriend pointed to the jumbotron and then dropped down to one knee. I’ve got a big role to fulfill as maid of honor, but I couldn’t be more happy to be asked to take this position in the wedding party!
Something else that has been on my mind lately, is I’ve noticed on my last two solo long runs that I have not listen to music. I stopped listening to music on my short runs close to a year ago, but up until this training cycle I always listen to music during a long run if I wasn’t running with someone else. Since I start my run so early in the morning I decided the first few miles were better left without music so I can be aware of my surroundings. Next thing I know my run is done without a single tune – and I didn’t mind it! I never planned a set mile to pop the headphones in just when I felt comfortable enough at a point in my run where It was getting lighter out or I was in a sea of runners. I guess I was just wrapped up in either my thoughts, the scenery or both. I remember when my sister, who is a runner too, started to run without music and I thought she was crazy! But now I understand.
Lastly, I can’t believe it’s already November, can you? I’m not ready for the holiday madness to arrive unless Florida decides to get it’s act together and bring us some cooler weather. All you Northerners complaining about how it’s getting cold already, I envy you…any one want to switch locations? Seriously, today was a record breaking temp in the bay area of 92* – yuck!
A special thanks to Amanda over at Running with Spoons for allowing me to “Think out Loud.”
